Information for Researchers

Statement of Purpose of NGO: Terrawatu is registered as a charitable, non-governmental organization with the Registrar of Societies in the United Republic of Tanzania (So. No. 11220). Terrawatu exists to work in the arena of sustainable development by combining indigenous and modern technologies. Our program services are targeted as follows: 1) conservation and enhancement of traditional health care system of the Maasai in Tanzania; 2) creation of global classrooms linking schools in Tanzania to world community to improve educational opportunies; 3) cross-cultural journeys.

Services Provided for Researchers: Terrawatu receives numerous requests and has entered into agreements with MA and PhD-level researchers to assist them in:

  1. Obtaining necessary permits from Tanzanian government
  2. Developing appropriate study design methodology in accordance with community policies and expectations
  3. Orchestrating fieldwork process in rural villages

Terrawatu works with researchers to ensure that all stakeholders benefit in a way that encourages the sustainability of academic research in Tanzania. Entering into a research agreement with Terrawatu guarantees that students have access to the highest quality cultural liaisons; economical, comfortable and secure transport, accommodation and food while in the field; and practical and insightful academic advising while in Tanzania.
